Best in Show
So if you've never been to a dog show you seriously have to check one out for the pure humor! I went to a dog show in Lynden today as Conor's uncle shows his pugs. I seriously felt like i stepped right inside the set of the movie, "Best in show." I was laughing so hard on the inside but had to keep it on the inside as there is dog show ettiquette, and laughing is not it. There were people fussing like crazy over their dogs, fluffing and combing their hair, using hair spray, giving them toys to play with, and even giving them pep talks. Seriously, the whole grooming area was exactly like the movie, and did you know that there are such things as "professional handlers," and that's their full time job. One interesting thing is that most owners look like their dogs. People who have dogs with very long hair, also have long hair. If their dog is gray, their hair is gray. The type of dog really shows the personality of the person. Very interesting. But what's even more amusing than watching the owners with their dogs are the comments you hear from the "handlers," and observers. For example, i was standing with Conor when this old lady turns to her friend and says, " That is one nice looking Bitch." I couldn't help but laugh at loud this time. The lady looked at me funny and i smiled back at her. Seriously, good humor is found at dog shows. People take their dogs very seriously.....

Lynn's shower
Holland days
Conor and I had the lovely chance to visit a true Dutch festival last weekend at Lynden Holland days. We heard dutch music, saw dancers, the lynden high school band, I mean what more could you want. We even saw kloppin dancers. (people who dance in the dutch wooden shoes). The dancers were wonderful but i think the "Polka Dots," band was my favorite. If you look closely you can read the sign, "We do parties, anniversaries, weddings. Alyssa, Lynn do you need any last minute music? There's just so much fun down here!

Redhook Brewery
This last weekend Conor and I went to visit our friends Jesse and Cara in Seattle. We had the opportunity to get a tour of the Redhook Brewery in Woodenville. For only $1 we learned how beer was made, and got to sample many types of beer. I only had a few sips as i'm not much of a beer drinker but you can see Conor and Jesse had their happy faces on:) It's a great tour and the brewery has great burgers! If you're ever in the area, check it out!

Tip-toe through the tulips
Well, last saturday I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the La Conner tulip festival. As you can see, the tulips were pretty spectacular! Michelle, my mom and I had a wonderful time! We tip toed through the tulips, went to the parade where we were thrown about 30 beaded necklaces from the fireman (no we didn't flash them) and had great ice cream! I was even more excited to see the tulips as i tried to go a few years ago with my friend Lindsey but we went too late as the tulips were chopped. Guess which picture shows the chopped tulips. As you can see, it's much more beautiful when the tulips are in bloom. The festival goes till the end of the month. Check it out....
