Thanks ang for your last post. I was thinking alot about what you wrote and have had some similar thoughts.
It's so crazy how addicted we have become to our technology. Our cell phones, email, blogs. It's like we have to check them for messages 5 or more times a day. Well lately Conor and I have learned that you can really live without these things and life still is just as enjoyable:) We cancelled Conor's cell phone in the fall and then cancelled mine about a month ago. Some people may say we're crazy, but really, it's been an easy transition. Yes, those times when you are driving and realize the boarder is long and don't have a phone to call that we'll be late can be annoying, but hey, what did we do a few years ago? We just waited and people understood. As well, people don't have the ability to reach us at any time of the day and if they want to reach us they leave a message at home, no big deal. We save tons a money a month and I'm sure we're protecting our health. I'm still really leary about cell phones and their connection with brain tumors, or any other disease that seems to keep increasing. There's crazy things out there that our affecting our body that's causing crazy statistics. Did you know that now 1 out of 150 kids in the US is born with autism. CRAZY! That never was the case 10 years ago. Now some of you may be reading this post thinking i'm crazy but that's okay:) Just think about it.
With the whole internet thing, I have realized how much of an addiction it has become to our society. Conor and I have wireless cards on our laptops and when we moved into our apartment we realized our neighbours had wireless internet so we picked up on their signal. Now that's a whole other issue, maybe we shouldn't have done that but we did. Anyways, they went to AFrica for 2 months and then we didn't have internet. It was really hard at first but then we would just go to the coffee shop once or twice a week. While they came back in FEb. and we realized how much we missed it. I swear we checked our email 4 times a day and i checked my blog. WEll, this week the internet has been blocked. If i want to check it i have to make the effort. However, I have realized that if i don't have it at home, I spend more time calling friends, playing games with Conor and just hanging out with people. Is having the internet in our homes taking away from us making the most of life.? Hmmm, just a thought! So Ang, i'm proud of you! What are your thoughts....
Conor and I were laughing as we were talking about how we don't have cell phones or internet. We're practically Omish....and that's rare in Lynden:)
